I sit here shaking my head in my hands, and I'm not really sure what to try next. Syrian despot Bashar Assad appears to have managed to convince the Arab League to extend the mission of 150 or so monitors, buying him more time and allowing him to spill more blood. AL monitors mission was supposed to end on Wednesday and they were told to "stay in place" by the League. Assad is "willing to extend" their mission for another month, but with conditions. They will not be able to visit "restricted military areas" as is already the case. The AL mission has been criticized by some of its own members, the US, Qatar and many Human Rights orginizations. I myself am dismayed, beside myself and feel down right betrayed. All this does is allow Assad to continue to terrorize his own people, old women whos sons and daughters go out and don't return. Children whose battered and broken bodies are kept in morgues until grieving loved ones have to claim their little bodies.
What I really want to say, I want the world body, the UN, the Syrian Observatory For Human Rights, Human Rights Watch, the US government. I want an accurate casualty count. It has been stuck on 5,000 for what seems like ever now. Tell us the truth, It is over 7,000. I keep hearing that 400 have been killed since monitors arrived on December 26th. That was ten days ago, and you know what? the number hasn't changed, even though on Wednesday at least 20 were killed, on Tuesday it was31 and so on. Who are we kidding?
I want to say to the monitors who take their job and responsibility seriously thank you, but you usefulness is over. Tell the truth about what you have seen. I want to say to Russia, how can you ? Just How can You? I want to tell Iran, go jump off a bridge. Your diversion tactics about the Gulf and spies and nukes are rubbish. I want to say to President Obama. I understand diplomacy behind the scenes, but stand up man and speak out against this nightmare. I want to tell Turkey, you seriously disappoint me. I want to say to Qatar and Jordan thanks for your bravery, we will need that. To the FSA, keep up the fight, your's is the good fight. To the Syrian people, hold on, someone will help you find peace and freedom. Don't give up.
Bashar Assad this article is for you. There are people out here on the Internet who will not stop hounding you. We will be relentless, we will keep posting until they come for you. Until you hear Gadhafi say, "Welcome to Hell, we have been waiting for you!"
